At Chum Wellness, what you share stays private. Reaching out for support takes courage, and you deserve to speak freely without worrying about where your words go. Confidentiality is not a promise we make lightly. It is written into a formal policy that every therapist, counsellor, and staff member is bound by.

What we protect
Everything about you and your care is treated as strictly confidential. That includes:
- Your identity and contact details, and the simple fact that you are our client at all
- What you tell us in your intake form and in every session, whether online or in person
- Your assessments, session notes, treatment plan, and progress
- Your bookings, attendance, and payment details
We never share without your written consent
We will not share your information with your family, your employer, or anyone else outside your care team unless you give us specific written permission. We never use your name, story, image, or anything from your sessions in marketing, testimonials, or social media. We never sell or trade your information. Ever.
Built to a HIPAA-benchmarked standard
We hold ourselves to one of the most demanding privacy standards in the world. Our policy is voluntarily built to the benchmark of the United States HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, the same standard trusted by healthcare providers internationally. As a Bangladesh-based service we are not legally bound by HIPAA; we simply choose to meet its standard because our clients deserve it. Many of our clients live abroad, and everyone, at home or overseas, gets the same level of protection. It is one of the reasons people trust Chum for individual, couple, and family support.
Your therapist’s private notes stay private
The private working notes your therapist may keep about a session are held separately from your main record. They are never shared with our admin team, never shared with your employer, and never released without your specific permission. Every member of our licensed team works within this policy.
The rare exceptions, handled with care
There are a small number of situations where limited disclosure may be necessary, for example if there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s, or where the law requires it. In these rare cases we share only the minimum necessary, take great care in how we do it, and tell you whenever we can. Your therapist will walk you through these limits gently at your first session, so nothing is ever a surprise.

Is counselling at Chum Wellness really confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is strictly confidential and protected by a written policy that binds every therapist and staff member. We do not share your information with anyone outside your care team without your written consent.
Will my family or employer find out I am in therapy?
No. We never disclose that you are a client, or anything about your care, to your family, employer, or any third party without your specific written permission.
Are online sessions confidential too?
Yes. Online sessions are held over a private, secure connection and are protected by exactly the same confidentiality policy as in-person sessions.
Who can see my session notes?
Only your assigned therapist and, where needed for your care, the clinical team. Your therapist’s private working notes are kept separate and are never shared without your specific permission.
